港版「商討日」徒具美版之名，不符美版之實。美版「商討日」的成功關鍵是誠實地採用現代科學民意調查的方法，包括科學的隨機抽樣和問卷設計，務求準確把握公眾的意見。相反，星期日舉行的第一回港版「商討日」預計有600名參加者，其中500名是由主辦者動員，只有100名是隨機抽出。樣本明顯太小，不足以反映真實民意。因此，第一回「商討日」更像政治宣傳活動，而非真誠的搜集民意。
